November’s in Charleston are filled with events and the fun anticipation of the holidays ahead. It’s Oyster season, so there are a lot of Oyster Roasts to attend. Grab your shuckers and check out some of my favorite November events here:
Starting November 1st and running every Wednesday in November, check out the Lowcountry blues happy hour with Shrimp City Slim at the Mills House Hotel in Downtown Charleston. This happy hour is a sure cure for the blues and runs from 5-8 pm. For more information check out their website here.
Pick up some good eats on November 3rd at the 13th Annual Oyster Roast and Silent Auction hosted by the Friends of the Hunley. This silent auction features weekend getaways, gift certificates, and Lowcountry arts. The event runs from 7-10pm. For ticket information, visit their website: www.hunley.org.

Mac and Cheese lovers rejoice! It’s time for the Charleston Mac Off 2017! This family fun event features mac and cheese from Charleston restaurants competing for the title of best mac and cheese! Come hungry and ready to play with the free kids zone. This year’s Mac-Off is happening November 4th at The Grove at Patriots Point and runs from 11am-5pm. Put your cowboy boots on and head over to the 6th Annual Lowcountry Hoedown on Saturday, November 4th! This event is being held at the Visitor Center Bus Shed downtown and features food, music, and of course, line dancing! It’s a great way to check out some local food and beverage vendors. Follow the yellow brick road to The Charleston Gaillard Center for the Wizard of Oz performed live on November 5th! This musical will have the whole family falling in love with Dorothy’s story of visiting Oz! For show times and ticket information, visit: The Gaillard Center.
Get ready for the holidays with Holiday Entertaining 101: Wine Tasting and Centerpiece Building at Mercantile and Mash. Learn how to make a DIY centerpiece to wow your guests while sampling an array of hand-selected wines. This event is on November 8th from 6-7pm. For more details, check out their Facebook event.
The Taste of Hutson Alley is happening November 9th from 6-9pm. This event features 6 restaurants with chef stations to get a glimpse of what Holy City Hospitality Group restaurants have to offer. It’s Celadon’s birthday! Celadon is an eclectic furniture shop in Mt. Pleasant and is definitely a must see! Help them celebrate that their Celadon 23rd Anniversary Celebration! This kid-friendly event will feature face painting, food trucks, and live music! This event is open from 11 am – 4 pm on November 11th. This one is for the kiddos! It’s the Fall Festival of Fun hosted by the Charleston Orthodontic Specialists on November 11th from 10am-2pm. Kids will have a blast with face painting, balloon animals, and take home photos with Bracket the Beaver, the Charleston Orthodontics mascot. For those car enthusiasts, there is Cars & Coffee in Freshfields Village at Kiawah. This complimentary event features a display of antique and other cars. This event is November 18th from 9 am -11 am. For more information, check out Freshfields Village.
Need to grab some exercise before the big Thanksgiving dinner? Grab your sneakers and head over to the 40th Annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble. Starting at 9 am, Thanksgiving morning in Marion Square this is the largest 5k in South Carolina! The race benefits over 24 charitable organizations in Charleston. Give back and burn some calories!
