December is magical in the Lowcountry! From a magical Christmas light show to lights on the water, it does not disappoint. It may not be a white Christmas in the Lowcountry but we definitely know how to celebrate the Holiday season! There is quite a lot going on, but these are some of my favorites to ring in the holiday cheer:
Start off the holiday season with Charles Dicken’s Christmas Carol at the historic dock street theatre! This show runs through December 20th. Pick up your tickets here.
Make sure to check out the holiday train display at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel in Downtown Charleston. Located in the center of the Hotel, this tiny town replica is a wonder for kids and adults alike. It’s a must-see while visiting downtown. The train is set up through January 2, 2018.
If you love the water and the holidays, then the Rock-N-Roll Christmas cruise is for you! This cruise is a great way to enjoy time with family while singing along to holiday favorites! This cruise runs December 9, 13,16,18,20,22,24, and 25th! For more details, view Charleston CVB.
Charleston Parade of Boats is a must-see event in the Lowcountry. Happening December 9th from 5-8pm at the Charleston Maritime Center. View the beautiful boats, grab some bbq, and meet Santa! It’s fun for the whole family. For ticket information, visit their website at http://www.charlestonparadeofboats.com/buy-tickets/.
Don’t miss the Mount Pleasant Christmas light parade on December 10th! After a fireworks show, floats will head down Coleman Blvd starting at 5:30 pm. For more information, check out their Facebook invite.
It’s not Christmas without National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! Head to the Historic Rooftop at the Restoration on December 14th from 6-9pm for this free event! Seating will be limited, so arrive early to secure a seat!
Head to Isle of Palms for a pancake breakfast by the sea with Santa! Catch him on December 17th from 10am-12pm for breakfast, pictures, and fun crafts for the kids. Check their event invite for tickets.
It’s not a proper Lowcountry Christmas until you’ve been to the Holiday Festival of Lights. Located on James Island, this impressive drive-thru lights display makes for a fun family outing. You can choose to drive through the whole show or park and walk. There is a train ride for the kids and they can visit with Santa. While driving through, tune your care to 1630 AM for holiday music. For directions and information, visit their website.
Ring in the New Year on the Yorktown! It’s something everyone should experience once. From 9 pm – 11 pm guests will be treated to live bands and DJ’s playing all genres. There are no better views in the Lowcountry to ring in 2018! Visit their website for ticket information.
