Charleston Calendar of Events – August 2017

August in the Lowcountry is always a hot one but that doesn’t slow us down! There are still plenty of happenings going on. Check out some of my top picks of highlights this August in the Lowcountry:

Are your kiddos ready to head back to school? Probably not, but here is a list of items to snag for the SC tax-free weekend (including computers!) running August 4th – 6th!

Charleston Farmers Market – Running every Saturday in August Downtown Charleston in Marion Square. Find more details here.

Take me out to the ballgame! Catch a Charleston Riverdogs game. Check their schedule here for home games. Tip: stick around after the show to see the fireworks display!

Paws on the Patio is happening on August 10th to benefit The Charleston Animal Society. This event is a fun happy hour that includes your four legged friends! For more details of the event, check the Mt. Pleasant Town Centre website.

Check out a Lowcountry staple Hootie & The Blowfish in concert August 11th and 12th at the Volvo Car Stadium. You can’t call yourself a local until you’ve seen these guys in concert! Find your tickets here.

Brave the heat for a day on King Street August 13th for Second Sunday on King! Enjoy vendors, music and a car free – King Street. Check the website for more details of the day and a free parking voucher!

On August 21st the Solar Eclipse Festival is happening in Bowman, SC. This festival features music and family fun events. For more information, check out

If you can’t make it to Bowman – there are plenty of solar eclipse viewing opportunities right in Charleston. Check out all the viewing parties in the area at If you’re planning on watching the eclipse, don’t forget to protect your eyes with NASA approved protective glasses. The eclipse starts at 1:16pm with peak viewing time at 2:47pm and ending at 4:09pm.
